"Hanna Megged persists in the approach she has developed over more than 50 years of abstraction by a calculated drawing scheme in which the final product.
The painting may be called "cultural," perhaps even "beautiful".
Megged chooses colors that at first glance look "grating," forcing them to "order," organizing the composition, and harmony. Compared to the previous paintings, the series is characterized by great materiality, layers of color, almost impasto.
If Rothko's paintings are chapels of silence and despair, Magged’s are expanses of breath, generosity, and quiet hope.

Hanna Megged | Painting as Living Humanism
Hanna Megged, one of Israel’s leading abstract painters, saw art as a medium for expressing her deeply held humanistic and liberal beliefs a commitment to the individual, to freedom, and to the pursuit of meaning and empathy through creativity. Her works, ranging from bold acrylics on canvas to refined Japanese ink on paper, are not only visually striking but also convey a powerful ethical vision: a world of openness, compassion, and dignity.
Megged embraced abstraction as a tool for both inner and outer exploration distilling landscapes, movements, and sensations into a unique visual language rich in metaphor and emotional depth. Over more than five decades of artistic practice, she developed a body of work that reflects a consistent dedication to values of liberty, respect, and humanity.
Her final exhibition, a culmination of three focused years of creation, stands as a testament to her artistic maturity masterful color compositions, confident brushwork, and a thoughtful materiality that invites the viewer into quiet contemplation. Magged’s paintings are more than aesthetic expressions; they are a living, breathing voice of conscience a reminder that art can still speak with moral clarity and timeless relevance.
